How do you celebrate holidays?
The last month on the Jewish calendar is upon us. So, we have begun to strap on our tefellin and blow our ram’s horn to repent for the 5784 sins we have committed. Our “suit of armor” properly engages us, the Jewish People, to remember what Abraham did out of his love and fear of Hashem. So we will know that some of us have come from his seed in this nation that we are exiled in. Until the return of our Meshiach.
Elul helps us get organized for 5785. Which, will be a year of joy because the blowing of the ram’s horn has taught us this important message from Hashem. As well as, other measures of expressing joy to seal the year on the evening of October 2, 2024 to October 4, 2024.
From the 613 seeds that represent the laws of Moses in the Pomegranate, to the dates that we purchase for a sweet new year. All foods have been purchased, to begin. And not to forget our toast of apples and honey, either.
Challah has become a recipe that I have found myself interested in. If a round challah can be presented on our Rosh Hashanah table, then I know it represents an unending cycle of life for all Jewish people.
Fish is a food that represents good fortune for the new year. So, with Elul/September being a good time to fish, now, the choices are, Crappie, Bream, Hybrid bass, Channel catfish, Trout, Tarpon, Bull redfish, and others also.
We must first understand, though, that certain types of fish such as, catfish, is off limits because they are bottom feeders. Knowing this we cannot defile our bodies to let a virus in it.
The holiest day for us is Yom Kippur which is the Jewish day of Atonement. It is observed from several minutes before sunset on Tishrei 9 (October 11) to after nightfall on Tishrei 10 (October 12). This is a 25-hour solemn fast day. Ah-men knowing we can abstain from work on this day. And, no anointing. Ah-men.
When Meshiach returns to us, we will be ready. And then Hashem will choose the ones he knows he will judge the works of, on this Earth. Blessed be his Holy name. Ah-men.
